The stated reason for wanting the selfie makes no sense. They could easily verify that the person knocking at the door was the person calling by sending a PIN code to both people, and the caller would need to present that at the door.

There are a lot of other reasons why they would want a picture (and they should state that if that's the fact).

1. They can confirm the age and race. (not cool that they profile).

2. They can blacklist you if you walk away because the provider isn't attractive. (I'm not down with this. If they provided accurate descriptions, that wouldn't happen).

3. They can blacklist you if you are violent, etc. (I can see that they would want to do that.)

4. If they have enough pictures archived, they can use them to negotiate. (I am absolutely not down with that).

I've had this happen a couple of times, I say I don't send pictures. If that's a problem for them, oh well they don't get my business. I had it happen recently for a place I've been to already, still insisted on a pic, so I passed. It pisses me off that they do it after you're already there; I spend time to get to these places, the least you could do is tell me up front you're going to want this so I don't waste my time.
