Post the phone number but leave the last 3 numbers as xxx as it doesn't matter. The way the telecoms assign DID numbers to government agencies & business is usually 100 # blocks so all phone numbers within the agency would be for ex. 678-555-5000 to 678-555-5099. Call a couple of numbers off of the number to see if APD picks up.

That sounds pretty sketchy but even if that was a legitimate LEO, calling an ad isn't illegal so you're under no obligation to talk to them, you did the right thing. I just hope you called from a burner number.
