Now I see the problem. The Google Pixel phone would have every feature of Google's Android Operating System enabled. Based on the words on the screenshot, I will assume that all notifications for the app are blocked, including the visual indicator. I have no way to check it out. If my assumption is correct, then it isn't just a matter of personal preference. There would be a distinct loss of functionality. Also, any manufacturer of an Android phone that lacks the ability to block all notifications per app have no choice but to use Textfree instead of Textnow.

FirsTimer86, if you could check it out and report back, this may be of interest to NamelessFun and others that may have similar concerns.

That's one way to deal with it. I just didn't want to do all that typing on a tiny touch screen each time. I just could not silence the text alert with textnow. But the textfree app did allow the text message alert to be muted.
