Yeah, usually just trying other sites to see if there are any hits on the number, the name, or the photos.

I can understand that newbies might not have reviews on some of the newer sites, but I would think they would advertise on more than just PD.

Unverified on PD is pretty vague but it falls within the realm that a user flagged the ad for something and the admins requested the ad owner to verify their identity (usually in ad-takeover or reports they're doing shady business).
