Posts: 655Gator, do you think the test strips will make a difference? My take was that everyone in Kensington already know that what they're using is Fentanyl, in fact I've met people that won't buy in Philly because of that. And yes, you are correct: tensions are at an all time high, and the value of human life is at an all time low. What's going to give? For the last 6-7 years every month I think it can't possibly get worse, but here we are.

Sadly the news is correct about Angelica. There's a small memorial where she was found at Lehigh and Kensington. I don't recall a time when so many young souls have been lost to drugs. It doesn't seem to be getting any better. Between the drugs and the thugs beating people. Setting people on fire and the shootings it was never like this out there. I know I'm preaching to the choir.

Yeah, if you heard of an overdose it happened in some bando. Now you trip over the rescue trucks going from block to block. If you are on foot you might even trip over the bodies.
The fentanyl test strips are going to be made legal. That may cut a few of the deaths. I'm curious what impact that will actually have. Let's hope they have the intended effect.
Does anybody else feel Philly is slowly turning into Little Columbia? Me, I'm just an 'OL Gator.

I've seen her. She's alive and well, hanging out in Camden.

Perhaps the subtlety of my approach was lost on some. The questions were not real questions at all, but a tongue-in-cheek exercise in response to the suggestions to CJ that it would be a "great idea" to publish a book, complete with photos, and make some extra dough. My point was simply that such a "great idea" might ignore the downside that unwanted publicity might elicit. The questions had nothing to do with the facts of history, why this thread was created, any other type of speculations and certainly nothing about a Monger School. Just saying.

Posts: 2669Maybe if one read this entire thread at the beginning and read & learned the reason why the thread was created in the first place one would have the answer to most all of those questions. I know speculation is a favorite past time in America, shoot Philly has two full time Sports Stations where speculation runs rampant. But nothing beats "the facts" and often those are learned from history. Just saying.

Maybe CJ has a wife or SO. Maybe that person wouldn't be so keen on the publicity which would inevitably surface. Maybe CJ has a job in a profession he enjoys. Maybe that employer wouldn't be so happy with his hobby, or has a morals clause in his contract. Maybe CJ has friends and family who wouldn't be as understanding as fellow mongers. Maybe this idea isn't so "great. ".

In today's internet world, don't think it terms of books that marketed through your local Barnes & Nobles. Write an e-book, cost of publishing is 1/10 a real book and more of the revenue stream is returned to the author. You can sell it on Amazon and post an ad on this very website because let's face it, your reading audience is another monger who wants to live his dreams thru Cookiejar's photo experiences. Of course a lot of would depend on using the photography but I'd see a lawyer first before I got too far down the road. I'm guessing but I think he could make enough to buy himself a house in the Philly area. Every day's a holiday, every meal a banquet.

I'll say this. If you hired a ghostwriter who could pull stories out of you and write them up, you just might have a bestseller. Remember the book by or about the Mayflower Madam?
You could write the book as the Streetwalker Sir, or something. And you could of course use some of your photos because you always get them to sign a waiver. Right?
(Talk to your publisher about that one!)
See you on the late show!

Not sure what her name is today, but I do see her a lot around Needle Park. Thanks for T O F T T Cooky. Keep up the good work. As you said, sometimes you eat the bear, and other times the bear eats you. That's how we distinguish the hot from the not-so-hot. Keeping in mind she is somebody's queen. Just she got stuck on the way back to her kingdom. So, on we go to better and more exciting choices as the weather warms. There is some new talent out there. I see them every time I get out. Trick is being in the right place at the right time. Let's hope we find ourselves in the right place every time. Me, I'm just an 'OL Gator.

Sometimes you get the Bear and sometimes the Bear gets you.
She was all wrapped-up in cold weather gear and the Covid-19 mask didn't help. I like them thin and shapely, so I took one for the team. One thing I've learned, you never know what you have until you remove the wrapper and open the box.
At some point during the photo shoot, she got it into her head that I was going to make a bunch of cash from her pictures. I tried to explain to her, as nicely as I could; that the Internet was crammed pack with porn sites with movies and naked lady pictures and that the chances that anyone would be willing to pay me for her photos was slim. When she opted out of doing anything beyond the photo session, I gave her the low-end going rate and cut my losses.
If anyone knows her name and would like to give a review, feel free to do so.
CookyJar.
