I know what you mean. The short stay places are good enough for a "short stay". (Note, the dollar amounts here are normal, not the stupid code some think is "cool").

EZ-Rest Motel. Telegraph, just south of 9-Mile (Southfield). 3 hours (anytime) $28 + $2 key deposit. I've been there many times. No problems.

(Forgot the name) on Grand River. Few blocks EAST of Telegraph (Detroit). Last July it was 3 hour $30 + $5 key deposit (don't know if it's only certain hours). Been there once. No problems.

Dorchester Motel. Grand River between Inkster and Beech Daly (Redford). I stopped in to ask, but never stayed there. They have a different set up, where you can stay "most" of the afternoon for a reasonable rate (don't remember the exact hours or the price).

Bahama Motel. Grand River just north of 8-Mile (Farmington Hills). Last July it was $40-45 I think.

Out of curiosity, I stopped at a few other nearby places and they were in the $40 - $50 range. None of the "chain" motels that I checked offered short stays.

SO, just wondering if these, or any other motels, where you do not have to show your driver's license, so you can maintain anonymity?

This is the same reason that we get ads on the web for products that don't interest us, but do interest friends and family because our phones were nearby. Our phones travel and leave bead crumbs, even those burner phones. No, our phones do not listen to us, they don't need to; they use all of our apps, actions, and searches that we already provide them. Maybe some mongers are current / former spooks (spies) or IT security specialists, criminals who really know the ropes, most mongers can't cover their tracks that well.

There is a false sense of security with a burner phone as well, if the police get involved. If you carry your regular cell phone with you along with your burner, carriers will be able to link the two.

I understand your logic here but the chances of that happening are extremely low in comparison to the chances of your significant other finding a second phone, which will most definitely happen sooner than later.

I am a bit of a worrywart and I'm really not worried about anyone finding it so for me a burn phone is the best choice. But I do see your point about a significant other finding a second phone.

Again, for less then 7 dollars a month it's not worth taking the chance of an app being traced back to your contract phone.

Do you really think LE couldn't or wouldn't trace a text app number to your contract phone over a felony? Would you be cool with LE contacting you about a murder investigation because some hooker is dead in a hotel room with your app number as the last caller? And I don't care if you are using a VPN, it's just not worth it when you can buy a nice smartphone for 40 bucks ish and 7 dollars a month to be 100% anonymous.

I agree that nobody should be using their own phone number, it's just an unnecessary risk. But also you can download apps these days to your phone that will let you text from a different phone number for free. I have two on mine so I can essentially text from 3 different numbers on my iphone depending which one I use. I've had the other two apps / numbers for years and never paid a penny for either.

Where is the best and cheapest place to pick up a burner phone? Had been going to get one, but since Covid came around, I have backed off a lot of my activities and have been sticking to my regulars and haven't been too concerned about privacy. Now, I'm thinking about looking around at some new talent and think it would be a good idea to get an anonymous phone.

Don't go cheap, get a nice Tracfone (Smartphone) get a good one for 40 to 80 dollars (pay cash), you can buy them anywhere. Get the 90 day prepaid card for 20, that's less then 7 dollars a month. DON'T use any personal info (this includes email) at any time. Also use a text app until you know the chick is real and not nuts, then you can give her the burn number. Remember if you use a text app on a contract phone it can be traced back to you.

Separately, I did find an Eastpointe condo right off the expressway. Ask is 44 K. The Googler says P&I is $210 with zero down. I don't know the HOA details.

The monger can pay hourly motels or use that money to build an equity position in an Eastpointe condo. Mongers need investments.

Most inner ring suburbs have condos for under 50 K.
