Last week I was in Buckhead and had an hour to kill, and I saw Tina's old parlor in Buckhead advertised. The ad looked nice, so I thought I'd stop by and see what was going on.

Bad mistake, won't repeat.

The location is very discrete, the sign says "ISPA" and looks like a high-end nail salon. It's certainly not a high profile place, if I hadn't known it was there I might have missed it. It was very nice inside. When I went in I was met by an attractive woman in what looked to be a heavy satin robe. It was floor-length but looked like she could open it up and step right out. I asked for an hour and she was nice, but asked me repeatedly if I'd been there before (I answered truthfully, been a few years), how I found them, etc. $60 collected up front for 1 hour. Normally I try to find out their name, but she was so weird in her questions I didn't ask.

I eventually got on the table and she started, but interrupted several times to answer the phone, meet a delivery guy at front door, meet a customer in the lobby, etc. No complaints from me although it was annoying. I was undraped the whole time, and had to tell her to close the door every time she left as she left it wide open each time.

I had asked not to use much oil, and she complied for the first 15 minutes, then before I noticed and could stop her she dumped what must have been a whole jar of flower-smelling lotion on my back. When I told her to get it off, she reluctantly wiped me down with a paper towel, but not enough that I didn't end up smelling like flowers the rest of the day. Still no complaints from me.

After a 30 minute (including interruptions) mechanical and uninspired rubdown on my back she told me to flip, and immediately went for the handshake. While she was working I asked her if I could touch and she asked how much tip? I asked her what was fair and she wouldn't answer, so finally I finally suggested another $60 (so $120 total), and she smiled and seemed pleased and said that would be OK. I reached around to the back (OTC) and rubbed a little, noting no panty line, when she casually said that "things had changed", they "didn't do that here anymore", and that "I needed to find another place to go next time".

I'm old enough that, while the little head certainly gets its way a lot, it was a little too much hearing her speech at that particular moment (and in all fairness she was finally doing a pretty nice job, certainly not her first rodeo). I stopped her, told her I "would go find another place right then", and asked for hot towels to clean myself off. She refused and said I was out of time (I'd been on the table about 40 min out of my 60 minute prepaid session) and she literally stopped mid stroke and told me this. I pointed at the clock and told her we had at least 15 minutes to find some towels. She told me "you are not nice" and went and got me a dry towel. I sent her back for a hot wet towel, which she brought and walked out of the room.

So I'm fuming but a little shocked at this point because in 20 years of the game this has never happened to me. I get dressed and head to the lobby, where's she's waiting with a water and a big smile. I told her I was heading to find a better place, and she said I owed her a tip. I told her "no service, no tip" and walked out.

I guess after all these years it was my time.

On the signage a CAMP will typically have massage in the name and a KAMP will typically have Spa in the name (not always).

With spas when you walk in there's usually a small room with a door and a doorbell or bell to ring. The mamasan will answer, take your payment, then take you to a room. Some places you get to pick the girls you want while others a girl will come in. Sometimes you can switch out if you don't like her and other times she the only one available so take her or leave. The women are also dressed in lingerie. You'll get a short massage then the negotiations begin (HJ, FS, etc). You'll pay for an hour but you definitely won't get that. After you bust your nut your time is basically over. Spas also have like a radio in the room where they'll play some station. In every spa I've been to in Atlanta they played B98.5.

With massage parlors when you walk in it'll be a lobby and you may see chairs where you could get a foot massage. A woman will greet you (wearing regular street clothes) and she'll most likely be the one who massages you. Some will take your payment right then and there like at a spa and others will collect it when you leave. You'll get at most a HJ and if your game is that good or it may be your lucky day, you may get more (BJ or even FS). The thing is, after you bust your nut, you most likely get more massage. You'll pay an hour and you may get the full hour but if not you'll definitely get more than at a spa. Plus they play that sleepy / soothing music.

KAMPs have a small foyer area with a door and window to greet the customer but not let him into the massage area until the mamasan lets him in after passing scrutiny. A CAMP will have a desk with maybe a Hello Kitty figurine on it (most CAMPs do) where there's usually a wall menu or at least a paper menu of services offered. The massage rooms are not closed off from the foyer area. Though most CAMPs still use the word "massage" in their signage, KAMPs will have the word "spa" in their signage. Don't let only ads fool you as it's becoming more common to see the words massage spa used together in the ad, which causes confusion for some. If you're unsure about a parlor before visiting, simply give them a call and ask if the ladies are Korean or Chinese. If the person on the phone says they have Latinas, then it's a KAMP.
