Practically anyone can get a CCW in VA. They tighten up the requirements just a little back in Dec 2020, but it used to be easier to get a CCW than a drivers license. 20 minute online class, pass test for certificate, background check and $40. Even with a VA CCW, if driving in MD, it needs to be in a locked case in car. And of course, can't even bring it into DC, period.

Were you really that surprised? I completely get why you might want to have a piece on you for your protection, but it's no surprise she freaked out. All valid points. I don't disagree with anything you said. I had not met her before. As I said, I didn't argue with her or send her any nasty texts afterwards. She wants to cancel, her choice, I move on. I will add that Mandy did not do any screening whatsoever ever during our texting. Not even the perfunctory "are you affiliated with law enforcement", so it's not like she's careful or particular with whom she sees.
