If it's a legit franchise you can easily get SBA loans, especially for an established brand name. I'm not rich at all and I managed to start a franchise spa business, but it takes a hell of a lot more than $100 k to do it. Mine took about $700 k to start up between construction, opening working capital etc. It does take some balls though. You usually have to put your house up as collateral so if your business fails you're fucked. I can tell you that in this world, $100 k doesn't buy you much.
