I get a flu shot every year. I got one last year in early September, and just got mine for this year. It isn't crazy to think that an endemic viral disease might need ongoing immunizations. And it isn't outside the experience people have with medical care these days. The reasons repeated immunizations could be needed for SARS-CoV-2 are different from those for the flu, but most people will consider that 'in the weeds'. We'll have the capacity, and it will just become part of standard medical practice. At one stage, it might have seen we could eradicate this virus, as has been done w / smallpox. In my reading of expert opinions in the scientific press, the opportunity to do this may have been lost. So, we'll have to learn to live with this virus the way we live with others. BTW, the common cold is in the same virus family as SARS-CoV-2 - it is endemic and we learned to live with it.

And what are the side effects of COVID a few years down the line? Oh what's that, no one knows? Except we've seen people have long covid issues months and months after exposure vs. A vaccine that has had minimal side effects in 99.9% of the people who have received it.

And what's the big deal with a booster shot? Is that the new thing that the right is pandering around? I get a flu shot for free every year from work. They even pull up right to the office, and I get a sugar cookie to eat on the way back to my desk. Pretty sweet deal.

You simply know nothing of which you speak. Of course surgical masks do something. That is why they are surgical masks. And this has nothing to do with it being airborne, and everything to do with the virus being in what is exhaled.

It will happen when more people wake up to the deception and lies that are being spread by MSM. When people are required to get multiple boosters and say enough is enough. That's when the vaxers that have taken 3, 4 or more will be complaining that the rest of us aren't doing enough. Think it can't happen?

And if you really really want to be honest about who is promoting violence, please get on twitter, reddit tik-tok or other social media. I can count everyday Vaxxers saying the unvaxxed shouldn't get hospital beds and should just die. I'm not pulling this out of my ass. I encourage you to go look on ANY social media. Cloth bandanas or the neck dust masks do nothing. Surgical masks most definitely reduce the spread of droplets. While n95's are the gold standard, surgical mask do reduce the spread significantly.

Is paying for a premium account worth it on rubmaps? I did a search on here and a few years ago they said there were a lot of fake reviews, but more recent talks on other sites have said they get useful info from it. Just wondering if anyone has any personal insight on this. Thanks and stay safe!

Did you ask your friend how many of those ICU beds are normally occupied? ICU suites are massively expensive, both to build and maintain. They normally run at about 80% occupency (mostly cardiac cases) but saying that "covid patients are taking up the remaining 20% of ICU beds left over after all the rest are full of massively obese cardiac patients" doesn't generate as many clicks as "there are only 2 ICU beds beds left because of the black death. ".

I agree with you about all the clickbait bullshit the media uses to make it look as though ICU beds are just always empty and waiting when there's not a COVID pandemic. However, even if they usually are 80% occupied, the fact that they are all full of unvaxx'd folks and unavailable for a cardiac (or anyone else needing it) patient that did get vaccinated is bullshit IMO.

It's the same argument the righties use about illegal immigrant crime. They'll say a single illegal that commits a crime is one that didn't have to happen. Well, ok. A single death that would be avoidable because an unvaccinated person filled an ICU bed is a death that didn't have to happen. Over-sensationalism by the media doesn't change that.

I spoke to a nurse acquaintance leading up to my trip, and she stated that the hospitals are 95% occupied. Some places with only 1 or 2 remaining ICU beds. So take that into account as well.

As a nurse I can confirm. Unfortunately medical professionals in the valley are burnt the fuck out. You don't get the same hand holding or compassion if you are in the hospital setting, especially with rona, these days. But if you pick it up here it is usually 4 or 5 days before you have symptoms. Plenty of time to take it home to wherever you come from.
