Guys I think that's close, but it's not exactly 50/50 for every shop in Cincy. There are at least two in Cincy that operate differently, more like 70/30, but they get other benefits. But you're right, they get to keep their tips, which is why they depend on them so much. Typically their "boss" or 1-level up also pays their health insurance. Most of them are on group health (and dental) insurance, which is a huge deal for them. They do their annual pilgrimage to Flushing NY to get their shots, medical exams, etc. In some cases, Chicago or Cleveland.

They almost all have to pay for their own food, which is why many of them cook at night and store up for the next day. Most live an apartment, usually paid for by the boss or "owner. " You're right, some do sleep in the shop, but depending on the "plaza" and local laws, that's not always allowed, so they need to remain low key. Lastly, you'd be surprised at how well-connected these girls are (Cincy-Louisville-Lexington-Dayton-Columbus-Cleveland). They can get help from a friend when in need.

I've known that some girls get a 50/50 split but I didn't know that it's become the normal in Cincinnati. Most owners that I know have paid 40% of the door to the average worker.
