I think they make more money doing it than any other job they could realistically get. And it's probably not that gross to most of them.

Think it's cultural when you go to other parts of the world where sex work isn't illegal and or looked down on the work isn't that bad. I know there are a lot of women who would rather blow a couple old fat dudes a day than work as a maid or cook in the back of some restaurant for 1/10th the pay. Also depending on their VISA status they may not be able to legally work in the US.

Can't speak for everyone but I'm assuming for some people a job is a job. It's not the worst job out there and they pay is somewhat decent. If on average they make $200 per day that's roughly 4-6 K per month or 50-70 K per year cash. I assume most college grads don't make that much and have to work way longer days plus endure a ton of stress. I used to date a stripper and there's no way in hell she would do a 9-5 for 50 k per year pretax.
