Personally especially since you were only 5 minutes away, I would have waited, you got there very quickly. When I schedule an escort, which is becoming less and less frequent for me lately, my hard stop is 10 minutes after the scheduled appointment if I am there on time. If I know the provider and they keep me updated with what's going on, or respond to my texts / calls in a timely manner then I would wait up to 30 minutes, especially if I really want to see her. If she says give me 5, and then she never responds to my texts I will leave after 15 minutes. A few times I get texts after I have left and if its a easy turn around then I will do that. Or I just send a text saying I need to reschedule, this way I've always left on a positive note even if they did waste my time and gas! For me, it boils down to communication. I don't bombard then with calls / texts either, I just communicate with them like how I want to be communicated with. If I am running late I send them a text, "hey 5 minutes late" . I have been using a VIOP number for my home phone for 10 years and I haven't had any of those issues. Landlines are getting to be like pay phones these days.
