So sometimes when I have time I like to reach out to the ads that are likely scams. Most of the time they just are the basic gift card or deposit up front scams. Today though I found a slightly more interesting scam. We texted back and forth and agreed to a time for the length of the meeting and the start time. The scammer then gave me an address for a hotel and I thought maybe this was actually going to be real. Since the location given was already on a route I need to drive to get to some other errands I wanted to do, I decided to head there. I texted when I arrived and that is when the scam became apparent. In order to get "her to meet me in the lobby or give me her room number" I was told I needed to send the donation to either Apple pay or Paypal. Of course I did not send any money and explained that I would give the money in person only. To try and convince me that it wasn't a scam the scammer sent me a picture of a hotel room telephone with the room number partially covered. Unfortunately for the scammer this further ruined the scam as the hotel phone in the pic was from a hotel a couple of blocks away from the one that I was given for the address. I will give the scammer a couple of points for cleverness in trying to get me and any others that reply to this ad to only think with the little head and think that a fun time is so near that you are willing to send a fee to get the room number.
