I've been doing some scouting down there myself the past week, with a similar experience. I tell them that I want to have solid plans before I make the trip, and a few of them ghosted right there. The vaccine helps the person to don't feel sick or have less symptoms and don't get critically ill to have to go to hospital.

So, having vaccine does not mean you cannot spread the infection.
