The lessons here (at least 1st time on questionable providers) are as follows:

1) For 1st time visits with questionable providers, but also for any really, always flip the security latch on the entry door (assuming its a hotel room as it usually is) as soon as you enter the room. You might also comment as you're doing it that its so you have no surprise guests (cops, accomplices or whatever) and its for the security of both of you.

4) They may give you shit about some of these actions. Point out that keeping strangers (such as cops) from bursting in from outside protects both of you. If they have no nefarious intent this rarely becomes a sticking point but if they insist on some "security" grounds, just point out that you both need to feel safe, tell them this won't work out, excuse yourself and leave.

5) Its important that you do all of the above BEFORE you get down to doing anything you wouldn't want someone bursting in upon you doing. 6) I'm not sure I agree with our friend Mitch's "little friend" approach. First off, who brings a backpack to date? This is a basic fundamental.

I always do a bathroom check, including the tub if the curtain is drawn. However, to my embarrassment, I hadn't thought about chaining the door. Thanks for the good advice.
