Can you please say which carrier you used, and how long ago this was? I tried with a Verizon phone summer of 2018 or 2019, and it insisted on all sorts of info, even though I was sure I had specified pre-paid.

Also, since it's Android, does it not force setup / use of a Google account?

    Regarding Google Voice:

I've been using Google voice for several years, but I'm seeing a much lower response rate from new providers I'm trying to reach, lately, as mentioned by a previous poster. Additionally, calls from one provider mysteriously were sent to voicemail, with no notification of the incoming call, in spite of that caller *not* being blocked. On another ocassion, the whole Google voice account was suspended after a fair amount of negotiations. I got it reinstated, but I'm getting suspicious about the whole thing. And recently it fucked up by refusing to receive verification pics from 2 providers. I could send pics to it from other numbers, not sure what that was about.

Also, like everything else Google, they retain the information forever. I'm sure they scan it, just as they do Gmail. Sometimes it's nice to be able to download all your Google voice activity since the beginning of time, but the fact that they have it isn't so great. I set up a separate Google account for that Google voice number, but I'm sure the separation isn't great, since it exists on the same phone as my normal account.

Cheap Android or used iPhone for burner

Economically speaking, a cheap Android will work. You can get one as low as $35 from one of the major carriers. Another option is to use an old iPhone: I had an iPhone 5 that worked for this purpose, and what was nice was it used the same charger as my regular line.

    Mongerphone ideas. Quick note

I agree with Pau Ford and FafaFooey below: the VoIP solutions are good options if you don't want to deal with another physical phone, and FafaFooey is right in that caution is needed when it comes to family app sharing.

If do you go the physical route, when the phone's not actively being used you can power it off and stick it in the junk drawer we all probably have that's full of old, outdated devices--I have probably 10 or more ancient smartphones and flip phones in my nightstand, so the mongerphone would just blend in with the rest of them. It's a bit of security through obscurity but might work well enough for your situation.

Also you'd want to use a locking PIN that's different from your regular phone line, and turn off all on-screen notifications so that any inbound text messages won't show up on the lock screen. That last bit of advice is also true if you go with the VoIP solution: ensure that any notifications about Google Voice or the like is kept from appearing on your lock screen.

Personally I don't like having an additional physical device to worry about so another option is just using a free VOIP text / calling app like Google Voice, textnow, etc. It's just an app on your existing phone. You get a separate number that you can call and text with. Your real # is completely hidden, texts / calls all go through the app (and the fake #) itself and kept completely separate from the rest of your phone. Easily managed, free, no secondary device to worry about, etc. Been using Google Voice for prob 8 years now and like it better than the other VOIP apps I've tried.
I agree that the text apps have become a better option than a physical burner these days. Only warning since it sounds like discretion is key for the OP is to make sure your App Store or Play Store account isn't set up with any kind of family sharing. If it is, it could quickly be visible to whoever you share with that you're downloading random text apps.

Can't have that coming around to bite me in the ass. This makes it difficult to find new variety as now I am sticking with a regular girl that I trust and AMPs that don't need to know anything about me. Please, give me some ideas. Thanks in advance!

Then you choose a plan: I like one that's $2 per day for unlimited minutes and texts, in which I'm charged only if I place or receive a call or send a text message--there's no charge on days I don't use the phone. I never use any data (as I turn off the cellular data feature on the phone to avoid accidental use), and the phone stays on airplane mode until I need it.

Airtime is bought via a scratch-off card at Walgreens, CVS, etc. , and is loaded via keypad entry. I always pay cash for everything; hope this helps!

Next time you buy a cheapo throw-away phone, borrow some chumps phone to activate it and enter NO real information. Use it exclusively to call your escorts, do not answer any calls you do not know, record your voice message greeting to say leave a name and number to add to the contact info and you can answer next time.

    This seems obvious.

He's a grown man acting like a child. Just point out the ridiculousness of that. Hearing that out loud should be enough for him to recognize he's being a child. At a bare min he'll recognize the immediate onlookers are thinking the same thing. Should be enough for shame for him to backdown. Also very important don't lose control of your emotions. Whoever loses their shit always appears weaker. If you get slugged after that everybody will know you came out on top of that interaction regardless if he knows it or not.

Don't take this personally but I'm guessing you're not like me. I still think you should stand up for her / yourself. Not pick a fight necessarily but calmly and firmly telling him that's not acceptable. I think the odds of escalation beyond that are low and if you catch one in the jaw so be it. In any case you'll feel better about yourself than having done nothing.

When I grew up being a big tough guy put you at the top of the food chain, in todays world there are way too many guys with a blade or a gun who are itching to use them rather than being shown up by anyone else. It is truly a jungle out there.

But it's easier on the street to weed out than if you take the time to park car and go up to the room and knock on the door to find out it's not the girl in the picture or it is LEO or you just dropped $150 for subpar service. It's usually cheaper on the street too.
