I believe you. The attached picture is from a known "lovers lane" in Kensington from the photo archive on this forum. No doubt though other lesser known areas I'm sure home owners are also keeping watch.

Many residents of Kensington are sick of their whole neighborhood being used as a brothel and a place to dump trash from used condoms all the way to mounds of used car tires that are dumped illegally. I feel for the Kensington residents.

I couldn't have said that any better. You are so correct. We can only put forth efforts to reduce risk. Elimination of risk is something even the police can't accomplish. I say that with respect not criticism. We surround ourselves with risk anytime we venture onto the playground. It's inevitable. Not saying live in paranoia by any stretch. Just be realistic. Think about good 'OL Murphy. Anything that can go wrong will.

All the decent businesses have long closed and gone to greener pastures. That should be the first clue to anyone that ventures to the area. The two byproducts of that area are money and drugs. People have been known to go to great lengths to get either or protect either. When the bullets fly there those doing the shooting could care less if we get shot. There are many that thrive on making a monger a victim. They are viewed as easy targets. Always been that way. A target that won't likely involve police. That said, it might be best to just view others as aggressors with no good intentions.

I have two cameras located discretely in my vehicle. One facing forward and the other facing the rear. I trust nobody. Just in case somebody thinks I'm an easy target.

Let me relate this incident. I was pulling into a parking spot. Pretty active area around noon. I felt a thud on my rear right side. I thought oh, shit I hit this guy's Mercedes. I got out and apologized. He's looking at his car shaking his head looking at me. Turns up the guy says he's a retired cop. Flashed his badge which impressed me very little. I shared my info and he was a bit reluctant to share his but he did. Couldn't understand why. I found out why a few days later.

I filed a claim with my insurance company as did the "victim". The insurance claims investigator asked about video. I told him I have a dual camera. He asked to review the footage. Upon review the video clearly shows the Mercedes intentionally driving into my vehicle. So much for the honesty of a retired cop. I had entered the parking space safely. Did over $2,000.00 in damage to my vehicle. Apparently, he had filed a huge claim against my insurance carrier. That happened right at Somerset in front of Martins.

That camera saved me upwards of $2,000.00 in repairs. Possibly a lot more. The cam itself cost me around $100.00 each. They are a lot cheaper. Walmart has one for as little as $20.00 and up. A camera in your vehicle can be the second set of eyes to cover your ass. It can also be used as evidence if you are attacked and the asshole thinks he got away and is smarter than you. A lot of the lowlife will intentionally walk in front of cars hoping for a big payday. A dash cam can protect your interest.

Did it eliminate my risk? As stated, it did not. Yet it did dramatically reduce it. Because without that video I would have been paying for that assholes trip to easy street.

So, if we think in terms of what can go wrong, always remain alert and aware of our surroundings, not trusting those we may not know very well, then we all can reduce the level of risk we encounter.

Our own safety needs to trump all other actions we may take. I'm sure other board members can offer us all tips that work for them when it comes to safety that I haven't touched upon. None of us want to be the next victim. So let's not be. Me, I'm just an 'OL Gator.

Not a problem. They do have signs posted that say no room visitors allowed. But I have taken many girls to my room and they have never questioned me about it. There are a number of precautions one can exercise to reduce the chance of things heading south.

1. Never let the employee choose the working location. Before negotiations begin, let them know you will be going to such and such a spot. It's not negotiable. If they don't agree tell them you changed your mind and won't be doing anything. Or tell them you must have lost your money. Thought you had $50 but looks like you only have two $5's. Tell them anything to get them to leave. If you have to give them a five spot. It's not $5. 00 to them. It's another bag or rock.

2. Pick a spot removed from the area you met her at. A spot away from the activity center is always safer than one closer.

3. On your way to your spot continually check your mirrors. Be aware if you are being followed.

4. When choosing a spot to get the job done try and park so nobody can approach you from the rear or the passenger side. Anyone approaching would need to approach from the front. This is not as complicated as it may seem. Look around. There are plenty of safe spots that offer blend in cover and visibility as well. Use your head, you will figure it out. See someone approaching with a bat etc. Get out of Dodge.

5. Never ever be in need of pussy so bad that you can't walk away from it if things aren't in your favor.

6. When she asks, Is this going to take long? The simple answer is as follows. Tell her It depend on how good she is at her job.

7. This is the most important factor. Never keep all your funds in the same spot. If possible only keep on your person what you intend to spend or can afford to lose. On occasion I have been in a position where the funds I had on me would not cover the agreed donation. I simply tell the employee to wait there and I will go to the ATM. Sometimes they complain and tell me they can go to the ATM with me. I tell them that's not a safe move and give me ten minutes and I'll return. I simply say I am no different than they are. I don't want to be placed in an unsafe position any more than they do. If they disagree then it's never worth the increased risk. I could have the additional funds in my vehicle. I just wouldn't allow them to find that out.

I'm not going to sit and point out what you may have done right or wrong. I have no doubt you have gone over that a dozen times in your head and you feel bad enough without me adding to the mix. I will offer this. At some point you lost control of the activity. You let your guard down. They saw that moment. You need to figure out what you could have done to prevent that from happening. As painful as it may be, those people, possibly including the girl, saw you as an easy victim. They took advantage of the situation to place you on the losing end.

I'm not new, and thought I was careful. It doesn't matter. These are desperate people, and if you don't realize you can be a target, or think you're too smart for it, you're kidding yourself.

I picked up a girl I know well and am very confident that it wasn't a set up. I usually always position my mirrors and try to keep a look out on what's coming around me. I ALWAYS keep the doors locked.

They do not necessarily need to be actually using the phone, there are tracking apps that can be installed to allow someone to locate the phone while it is on.

Do the fuzz out here use decoy girls for stings? Yesterday I was parked near K and Tioga. Most of the girls are out because of a need. As such that is their primary focus in life, so good clothes, make-up, nails, nice shoes, etc are secondary. After a while you get and idea what a street girl looks like and can spot them a block or two away. So something that looks TGTBT or out of place from what is "normal" needs to be looked at carefully. So riding around looking for LE friends is good. Look for the undercover ones in unmarked cars, trucks and SUVs. Look for surveillance vans or trucks that look like they belong to a utility or whatever. Vans with blacked out windows or dudes inside is not a good sign generally.

Another thing the sets me off is the fact that IF she were so stunning and a regular girl on the street, then why hadn't someone scooped her up in all the time you were doing recon. So you did the right things. Never scoop a girl on first sight, I usually do several passes coming from numerous directions. If you do not know what is down the street, on the side street or in a lot within line of sight of the girl, then one is at risk. Also, if she stays in the same place that is a red flag. Girls on the stroll won't do that because they'll get pinched for loitering. A decoy however has to stay in line of sight of her back up so she'll be walking up & down the same block.

But I will say this. You did the right thing by listening to your spidey senses and booking! NEVER forget that! Never go against yous spidey senses! Look, with time and experience one's sense will adjust. But when one ignores those senses or lets the little head do the thinking is when one is most likely to get in trouble. NEVER be so needy that you'll scoop something in spite of your gut saying otherwise. IF she is a working girl she'll be out there again.
