The minute you offer a statement, especially if the statement is a lie, they got you. Lying to lLE is a crime, and if they don't like you or think you are making fun of them or if their ego gets bruised, there are cops that will use all of their investigative powers and try to hem you up. None of the money they will spend to mess with you will come out of their pocket. Don't talk to cops without a lawyer present, and please don't lie to them.
