Posts: 138Follies Farewell Party happened at Diamond
Late, but here's the explanation:
The former main dayshift manager at Follies is now the dayshift manager at Diamond Cub on Northside.
He organized a farewell party primarily for former Follies staff and dancers (but also customers) to be held at Diamond Club. That party took place Saturday, September 26.
He began announcing it a couple weeks prior on his Facebook page. There was also an "after party" strictly for staff and dancers at Club Zoo.
A snip (cropping out his personal identifying info) of his last FB announcement is attached herein.
He later posted casual photos from the event.

The source was credible and even though it didn't seem to make sense I couldn't figure out why she would fib. I went by and sure enough it is closed. Obviously she was smoking crack!

Before I begin, let me give a hint to the answer. The reason for a business to conduct business is to make money.

A) For a club that has been closed for months, to suddenly open its doors for a one day pow wow. No indication or promotion on its website, facebook or instagram pages? Just word of mouth from a few dancers.
B) For a club (say Platimum, Diamonds, etc) in which many of the employees have migrated, in an attempt to further capitalize off the closure of above club, to promote a party in honor of said club? If nothing else, the open club can promote to their current patrons of said event.
See hint for the most likely answer.

Posts: 211You DEFINITELY don't want Atlanta turning into Nashville. The regulations here make our clubs a joke! Years ago you could go to a different club every night of the week, now there are two!

Posts: 1370Cincinnati is a good example of what happens when all these right wing Bible-thumping assholes run amok unchecked with their zealousy and hypocrisy.

No matter how many ordinances or laws are passed guys will still need to get a warm mouth and tight giner to relieve their urges. I've been seeing working girls in Cincy since 2009 and it's never that hard to find willing ladies in that town. Dayton had the good strip clubs like Harem and Living Room and others until they recently shut most of them down. Cheeks is still operating but it's a shell of it's former glory. So it looks like Dayton is experiencing a slow painful death just like Cincy when it comes to adult businesses.

Posts: 13634Veddy well said. I'm a big fan of history, I. E, when Egyptians, Greeks, and then Romans reigned. Money and power have always ruled throughout. Follies was an interest, yet small potatoes per historical references.

Posts: 579Try living in Cincinnati where you had the richest man in the county bankroll a bunch of bible thumping religious leaders into almost all of the political offices including Sheriff. When I left in 2008, they still didn't sell playboy. I don't think I ever saw a massage parlor.

While I have zero information other then what is provided on this forum why would they open for 1 day? Do they still have a vaild liquor license? I think it would attract the attention of the local police plus liquor enforcement. Who would want to work 1 day. ? Could they get support staff and entertainment into place for one last party? I don't know just asking. If it does open I think it could be 1 helluva party or a very big shit show. With the second being far more likely. Stay safe.

Posts: 3001Yea I agree most residential areas don't want Strip Clubs or any Sex shops around because they know it usually brings crime and drugs into the area. It's funny tho most all of the Strip Clubs in Atlanta are in bad areas anyway.

That is what I heard from a former dancer now at another club. She said it would be open for one day only and then would be closed for good. She said I could verify it on fakebook and instagram. I looked at fakebook but found nothing on it. I definitely trust the girl. But, I do not know what to think! Anyone else hear this?

Mongers put money in G-strings, pay for sex and massages, and spend their time looking for the cheapest pussy.

Who do you think is getting the best return for their dollar?
With the way the laws, ordinances and regulations are in Atlanta are you surprised these places are closing? Is there any doubt as to why the top talent (mostly) avoids Atlanta?

Posts: 180Six figures or not, you don't understand how local government works. Yes, customers want a Follies, but cities and their elected officials do not. And when that happens, sooner or later they'll close (look at the history of 42nd street in NY, the Combat Zone in Boston, etc. - when gov wants adult businesses to go, they go). The law is pretty clear. While strip clubs in general usually pass muster, cities can and have restricted hours, alcohol use, lap dances, etc. All the things that make a Follies Follies. We've lived through the high point of adult business in this country; it'll slowly but surely shrink to a few isolated locations.

Posts: 327There will always be a Follies
There is high demand for the services Follies offered. You can shut down Flashers, you can shut down Follies, etc. But that's not going to change demand at all.
Oh sure, the Karens of the world might imagine Boise, where "strip clubs" involve women stripping down to two piece bathing suits. But it didn't takeout in Boise, and I'm sure there are underground clubs where, god and Joseph Smith forbid, guys hire talent to perform and it's nearly impossible to crack down on.
Atlanta has probably shed its title of "most strip clubs per capita in a major city" but the down and dirty stuff isn't going away. It's just shifting to a more secure location.

Just don't be a poor loser with no money walking into that place.
A six figure guy like me never had problems getting all the titties and pussy I could handle in Follies because I had that mean green burning a hole in my pocket.

Follies was by far the best strip club that I've ever gone to and I've been to the "best of the best" all over the US. The Follies Vets went during the day. Night shift was completely different, but never once did I feel unsafe there. LOL at any of those other clubs being anywhere close to Follies's level. If you think that you probably weren't doing something right.
