Burner phone vs App is a decision that needs to be made based on what fits your situation the best. Consider if your spouse gets into your phone. A texting app on your personal phone may be suspicious. Do you use a family App Store / Play account where a tech savvy spouse may see that someone has downloaded the app? Likewise are YOU savvy enough to bury it deep within a folder to keep it out of sight and remember to disable notifications? Similarly if you got a burner phone where would you charge and hide it? If you aren't married those probably aren't a concern for you.

A good reason to have a burner phone: you can afford to bring it with you where you shouldn't be bringing your expensive smart phone. Say hello to souvenir pics!

If you consider an app, download it and try it for free. Learn all the settings within the app and your phone to enable / disable notifications. Send texts and calls (from a different phone) in all the different configurations, sleep modes, etc to see when it rings or notifies you so there aren't any surprises when you aren't expecting any. Then remember to shut it off when not in use.

For the overly paranoid TextFree has a webpage version for texting only. It requires you to login via a browser and manually check for texts. Cumbersome but leaves no trace.

Having both is ideal to have multiple numbers for long term and short term uses. Great info on burner phone:

This is the providers side of our communication problems in the hobby.

Just got this text from Angel Luv.

Okay so I've got a bunch of people coming in on my phone right now and I got an appointment right now but the guy keeps calling me from an unknown number and in The Mists of three or four texts coming in at the same time the phone did not ring and I was not able to catch that call I'm kind of pissed right now because he's not calling you back.

This is one reason they leave the hobby. She could be getting a report on this forum about Ghosting. After I posted her stg link, now she needs secretary and phone bank to keep up. We will end up calling her secretary a handler. The secretary will cost money that will cause an increase in rates.

She has no help , just trying to answer her own phone. Chill and be patient and maybe she'll stay in the hobby.

Seems like we are losing allot of providers. More spam on the sites then anything. Noticed Christina hasn't posted in along time, sexy sammie wouldn't be to surprised if she isn't in jail. And a few others I don't have a name for. Hoping we get some more providers soon.
