I deal extensively with personnel at the CDC, Emory, NIH, etc. To a "T", I would trust their opinion over any that come from the current administration (perhaps with the exception of Redfield; he is where he is for a reason). In January he received a briefing from our intelligence organizations that the outbreak was much worse than China was admitting and that it would definitely hit our country if something wasn't done to prevent it. He ignored the report, not trusting our own intelligence.

When the disease spread to Europe, the World Health Organization offered a plethora of tests to the United States. Trump turned them down, saying private companies here would make the tests "better" if we needed them. That's correct, 864 Billion. Delta just reported a quarterly loss of 5. 7 Billion but they took 5. 8 Billion from Team Orange as did all the major airlines to keep from immediately letting employees go. So all the major US carriers would be bankrupt and firing most of their staff without these grants and loans. So which option do you prefer? Running a huge deficit and handing out money to keep people on payrolls (or at home), or letting it all drop. Downsizing Atlanta Hartsfield by 60% wouldn't bother me one bit but I'm sure someone would complain. At least the $600 per week booster money will be gone after July. This will certainly help with the deficit and encourage people to put on a mask and get off the couch. Does't really matter who's in charge, you can subsidize people to "stay home and be safe" or stop printing money and let those with a viable business model survive while the others adjust their lifestyle to fit their income.
