That's correct, 864 Billion. Delta just reported a quarterly loss of 5. 7 Billion but they took 5. 8 Billion from Team Orange as did all the major airlines to keep from immediately letting employees go. So all the major US carriers would be bankrupt and firing most of their staff without these grants and loans. So which option do you prefer? Running a huge deficit and handing out money to keep people on payrolls (or at home), or letting it all drop. Downsizing Atlanta Hartsfield by 60% wouldn't bother me one bit but I'm sure someone would complain. At least the $600 per week booster money will be gone after July. This will certainly help with the deficit and encourage people to put on a mask and get off the couch. Does't really matter who's in charge, you can subsidize people to "stay home and be safe" or stop printing money and let those with a viable business model survive while the others adjust their lifestyle to fit their income. Looking forward to herd immunity or a vaccine within 6 months.

I've been a lefty my whole fucking life and this is complete and total bullshit fabricated by CNN and MSNBC to further an agenda. There was no magic that kept people who were spending hours in tightly packed crowds screaming their lungs out that prevented them from infecting others and puh fucking lese don't get me started on how they didn't because they were wearing a paper mask from wally world. Of course they caused the spikes that occurred two weeks to the friggen date of the beginning of the protests. Most of the states had opened 6 weeks before the protests and there wasn't any explosion of cases until the protests. And just like they don't want to take responsibility for demanding that the economy got destroyed they don't want to be responsible for the spike in cases.

It's no big deal though because the death count continues to drop, week after week, month after month. The "surge" in cases is testing. Corona already took the majority of people it's going to take just like it did everywhere else. A rapid increase in deaths as the elderly and infirm succumbed to the virus then steadily decreasing. If it wasn't an election year it would already be over. Back in April when people were dying all you heard about was "death count" now that hardly anybody (and yes, 1000 people a day in the USA is hardly anybody) all you hear about is case count but they report it as if all those people were already dead. They don't ever say "27 young people who went to a covid party have since become positive and most likely all of them will be fine and not require hospitalization nor medical treatment. ".

I can't wait until November when this is all over.

It's not, though. The protests (to my surprise) have resulted in very few infection cases, I assume because the protests are outside.

The new infections are because of reopenings, in particular of bars, and from social gatherings in general (eg. Parties.).
