Once went to a Notel where a few rooms had broken deadbolts. When we asked about a room change, the woman at the desk suggested going further north or bring a gun. My date quickly said, "Got it covered". LOL

Same here with the broken deadbolt or no deadbolt at all. In motels, there are usually those bigger lounge chairs which I move in front of the door, if no bolt and even with a chain.

I don't carry a sidearm to dates, but I know at least one forum member who does. I have long felt that if I thought it was so dangerous that I needed a firearm for self protection, then I wouldn't go, period.

Also, I could have avoided the entire scenario by getting back in the vehicle and leaving immediately after seeing her.
