Let me clarify before this turn to personal attacks about me being full of "misinformation". South Korea did quarantine. When they saw what was coming out of China; everyone that had even the remotest of symptoms they tested, quarantined and lockdowned those particular areas. The virus didn't get an opportunity to spread wide to the general population. They locked down geographical areas that had positive tests and then started random and sample testing all around the country. They did this on the first confirmed case on Jan 20th which was the same date that the US identified its first positive case.

IF you mean Lockdown as in shutting down all businesses in the country then yes you are correct. I mean lockdown as in where they found positive tests they locked down those particular areas. Why do I use the word lockdown. From my perspective when you quarantine it applies to those who are known positive and are restricted from movement. Like Chris Cuamo from CNN. Lockdown in my view is when you stop social gatherings, close businesses, and in an effort to stop or slow infections this applies those who have and havent tested positive.

So now on to your personal attack on. Exactly what bad information am I full of?

"South Korea has been effective in controlling the nation's mortality rate not through travel bans but instead through widespread rigorous quarantine measures and testing, now even exporting domestically produced test kits such as the 51,000 diagnostic products sent this week to the United Arab Emirates.

Most importantly, South Korea immediately began testing hundreds of thousands of asymptomatic people, including at drive-through centres. South Korea employed a central tracking app, Corona 100 m, that publicly informs citizens of known cases within 100 metres of where they are. Surprisingly, a culture that has often rebelliously rejected authoritarianism has embraced intrusive measures.

On 17 March, a temporary provision entailed a small subsidy of 454,900 South Korean won (313) a month to cover basic living expenses. The same funding is available to those who are self-isolating, regardless of whether they test positive for the virus. It's not hugely generous, but provides subsistence for those whose lives are upended by necessary measures such as the ministry of education's closure of schools. ".

There are many strains of coronavirus including the common cold

There is no current antibody test for the current Sars-Cov-2 which is a specific strain.

Answer the question or don't but if you're going to continue deflecting I'll just assume you don't because you can't.
I answered your question. I just didn't answer it the way you want me to answer it. I didn't sidestep it, I clearly gave you my response. Our pool is human civilization on Earth. I thought I made this as clear as day when I illustrated how the virus bled over from China to Georgia. There is no "kiddy pool". So let me spell it out to you. I live in a society by definition I do not exist alone. I have family friends, people who I wish to interact with one day and trying to find some type of "hedge" or "middle ground" is counter-productive to slowing the infection rate for everyone. My sister is a nurse fighting on the front lines in NJ, my mom is a nurse fighting the good fight in Mississippi. The more people that are socializing and are out and about; then that means more are infected, thereby increasing COVID related visits to emergency facilities. This is creating increased risk in an already high-risk situation to healthcare professionals like my mom and sister. Their livelihood, health (both physical and mental), and wellness affect me. Irrespective if I become a hermit or not.

Virus and disease is a societal issue that requires the cooperation of people in society to fight effectively. It has been that way for throughout germ warfare in human history with herd immunity, Polio vaccine, MMR vaccine, malaria and every other virus and disease we collectively try to fight. Sorry that your "freedom" or your echo chamber doesn't allow you to understand that a small sacrifice for 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 months of your life is being inconvenienced by staying in a temperature-controlled environment, with running water, freshwater, and food; allow some to get the treatment in a hospital and save their life. In what would be an otherwise completely overrun healthcare system.

Lives are being saved because the overwhelming majority are staying on lockdown and yes lives are being lost, unfortunately at a still staggering rate. But if I have to sit in the house all day to give the system a chance to catch up and our Epidemiologist a chance to collect, analyze and figure out data to make the best chance of saving lives or avoiding infection going forward. I'm all in.

    And another thing

From the research I looked at a while ago. Georgia could only pay uninsurance for the number of people who filed for 2 weeks which is why I suspect the rush to reopen. If you are hurting it is because of your elected state leadership.

However, your pain In the pocketbook should not translate to a safety and wellness issue for my family. The more businesses open the increased risk factor for everyone we arent that many degrees of separation whether I don't go get a hair cut or not there is still an increased risk to me the more asymptomatic people there are roaming about. That's just my unpopular opinion.
Your opinion is unpopular because it is myopic and stupid and lacks any shred of common sense. As I said in my last post, stay under your bed if you are that afraid. And please stop already with the emotional disingenuousness of referring to the safety and wellness of your family. For their sake please keep them under the bed with you if that makes you feel better. But, to demand that the rest of us adhere to your dogma is just narcissistic, domineering totalitarianism. There's a lot of that out there right now from those with a political agenda to those who just don't know any better and you had better know that we are not going to put up with that crap, not now or ever.

    Please stay under your bed.

Do you really believe that if people piss in a certain corner of the pool that everyone in that pool isn't going to be swimming in pissy water? Atlanta isn't on an isolated island, I'm pretty sure if the virus can find an infectious path from Wuhan China to Albany and Atlanta Georgia it can eventually affect any and everyone.
Please explain to us why everyone has to do the same? Admin2 and others have asked you the same question and your only answer seems to be "because I say so". Yes, the virus is quite deadly to that certain demographic that you mention, the older ones among us who have serious existing medical conditions already. The vast majority of the rest of us, even if we get it, are highly, HIGHLY, unlikely to suffer the same fate as this group. And yet to you and others like you, the ONLY solution is for EVERYONE to hide under their beds for the next two years until there are no more virus cases left. Of course there will be no more economy left either and the resulting societal breakdown WILL result in chaos and death that will make the toll of this virus seem insignificant in comparison but that does not seem to even cross the minds of people like you. Stay in your own corner and piss away if you like. The rest of us demand our lives back and by god we are going to get them. I would strongly suggest that you and others like you stay out of our way. Our way is the common sense way. We CAN and WILL get back to work while protecting the vulnerable. It CAN and WILL be done. The only thing preventing that is doom and gloom chicken littles like you whose agendas are, at the least, puzzling and at the most, calculated and sinister. Those of us with common sense, and there are many more of us than you, will fight through this stranglehold imposed on us by thinkers like you and we will see the light of day again, much to your crowd's disapproval I am sure.

So your response is everyone has to be dragged down for the sake of those who must be more protective, either for their own health or for someone who might live with them? That's as dumb as Cobb Schools telling me I cannot send a Coke with my son's lunch because everyone did not get a coke.

In other countries you might be able to make a point but in the US, in Atlanta, you don't ever have to set foot out your front door.

Do not awaken the blind sheep! Big government is there to protect them from that wicked death sentence named Coronavirus. Man, gtfoh with this Coronavirus exxagerrated government-made nonsense. Looks like some Sci-fi fiction shit straight off the Disney channel. Just the other day, they claimed some public official had his leg amputated due to complications from Cororonavirus. Smh. Little Trayvon Devontataetay Martin Brown recently got shot in a drive-by shooting. He also died due to complications from Coronavirus. This Coronavirus farce is getting ridiculously out of hand now.
