Little Trayvon Devontataetay Martin Brown recently got shot in a drive-by shooting. He also died due to complications from Coronavirus. This Coronavirus farce is getting ridiculously out of hand now.

Posts: 1011Europe went thru China virus approx one month before US. Data from Germany, Italy and Sweden show a lockdown did nothing to slow the RO. By the time lockdown put in place, that curve had already been flattened and was heading downwards. Lockdown didn't change the trajectory. But be afraid. Be very afraid. Pray for your gubmit check and a chunk of gubmint cheese.

Posts: 2351Just my. 02 cents again, any serious attempt to put coronavirus deaths in context by comparing it to some other cause of death in a previous year must acknowledge the marked differences in the Covid-19 trend most notably, the rapid spike in deaths that is still underway, and the wide range of uncertainty about when it will peak, how high it will peak, and whether it will peak only once. As long as the pandemic is rapidly spreading, these comparisons will be fraught.

Posts: 5266Explain this one to me
Because this is the justification for everybody who wants to ignore the growing body of evidence that says corona isn't nearly as lethal as originally thought. Explain to me exactly how somebody else relaxing the draconian restrictions that have been put in place increase your risk if you continue to obey them?

In other countries you might be able to make a point but in the US, in Atlanta, you don't ever have to set foot out your front door.
No joke, explain that to me because so far nobody has.

Posts: 333Few observations. I know my son who attends UCF and worked part time until this pandemic (I don't claim him on my taxes). File for unemployment 3 weeks ago. He still has not gotten a check, nor have his roommates. So its hit or miss on Florida unemployment. As for Georgia, part of the reason you stated contributes to the rush to reopen. A bigger part is that Georgia tax revenue and budget are expected to run 4 B in deficits over the next 2 years. So no economic activity, no revenue for the state. Now, was it a smart move to open the business with the highest potential for spreading this virus? Only time will tell. And yes some businesses in Georgia have gotten PPP and EIDL loans. And I know of a few people in my neighborhood that have gotten their Stimulus checks. The struggle continues for a lot of our neighbors / family and friends.

Posts: 54I'm less sympathetic. Other states are letting small business owners get uninsurance and ensuring they are getting ppp loans for their state businesses. I personally know a couple of people in Florida that own a car dealership and tailoring business respectively and they are getting $300+$600 per week and the stimulus check and ppp loans. From the research I looked at a while ago. Georgia could only pay uninsurance for the number of people who filed for 2 weeks which is why I suspect the rush to reopen. If you are hurting it is because of your elected state leadership.

The more businesses open the increased risk factor for everyone we arent that many degrees of separation whether I don't go get a hair cut or not there is still an increased risk to me the more asymptomatic people there are roaming about. That's just my unpopular opinion.

Posts: 413There's a real opportunity here to pressure congress, organizations like the ACLU, city and state governments to legalize sex work and regulate it. I know we all fear the fact that we could be bringing home corona because unless your'e wearing a full body condom, you are at risk. The issues used to be HIV / STD and Human trafficking as reasons to move to a legal, regulated system. Now there is Corona. A Trifecta. It's not like the worlds oldest profession is just going to disappear in the USA or anywhere else. So why aren't people talking about legalizing sex work?

Contact the ACLU, the WHO, your congressman or just tell your buddy. It's time that the dollars generated in sex work were not shared with the government in the form of court fees, fines, penalties etc for sex workers and their clients. This money should instead be used to protect us and all sex workers. I'd really rather not worry about my face being in a mug shot or involved in a bust. Maybe there is a slight chance for change.

Posts: 1181It is really quite simple people, as long as America is the Land of Free and operates a capitalist society, if you own a business you are free to open it here in GA under the rules put into place and you are free to stay closed. As a consumer, you are free to partake and you are free to stay home. I choose to live life based on knowledge and common sense and not out of fear.

Posts: 1011Could happen. But NY has over 40%, NY / NJ metro areas have over 50% of all US China virus deaths. Other than backdating / back coding deaths in NY, both states are well off their daily peaks.

A couple of posters said "if we get to 60 k by September. ". We're losing around 2,000 a day to COVID-19. We'll probably be at 60,000 next week.
