Couple things here, JB /1st time poster:

Obliviously, not all AA fit the stereotypical AA. The providers know this but the problem is the heavy majority of AA do fit the stereotypical AA. So, the girls would rather not take the risk. The most common reasons I was told why most providers won't see AA is: 1) Many can be too rough. I've asked this question to providers many times. I'm not black I'm Indian so I'll always confirm since I've been turned away at the door before. 90% of the time the response is that they've been raped by a black guy in the past, which I highly doubt, but it's always follows by "I'm not racist" sure you're not.
