But that is how the Orange Turd is going to get the country open by May 1. Importing shit test kits from China. And the real zinger is the news organizations and government are interchanging between antigen and antibody testing, implying they are the same. THEY ARE NOT the same. Antigen testing only shows you have been exposed to the virus and those antigens only exists in the body for 4 to 6 weeks. Antibodies are the immune system response to the virus, this proves you have immunity to whatever degree that maybe (remember influenza is the same family of virus as COVID and we have to get a shot every year). So is showing up are the antigen tests which aren't worth shit except to make people feel good until they get sick again because they fuck up and stopped social distancing. A reliable antibody testing is still a few months away, and even then they will only be probably 80% accurate initally if history is any indicator of previous antibody tests (took almost 2 years for a reliable SARS antibody test).

I think you're over-thinking it. The predicted death toll has already been downgraded from 200,000 to less than 40,000 nationwide, and will likely further decrease as the case numbers decline.

As far as the clubs go, I think the recovery will take until at least Christmas because once everyone goes back to work most people are facing overdue bills of all kinds. Mortage payments, rent payments, car payments, credit card payments, etc. Having fun money to spend at the strip clubs will be in short supply. Also, many employers see the cost savings of a stay-at-home workforce so the majority of them won't return to a full payroll in awhile and a decent chunk of people will remain unemployed. Plus, there is already threats of a rebound pandemic wave hitting us in the fall. So add it all up and it looks rough until December and hopefully a return to normal by early next year.

However, if there is a serious 2nd wave hitting us at the end of the year then all bets are off. Another two-month lock down would be fatal for many businesses. I'd say at least half of all clubs will close permanently if that happens.

You can calculate all the deaths per country, per capita, even world wide. Compare countries, regions, and territories and argue who's doing the best or not. Once people see that then the risk groups can self isolate, and those that won't die from it can keep life going.

When I was touring colleges I happened to visit the University of Michigan when it was -60 F and windy, and just said "this is dumb". I wound up accepting Georgia Tech's offer.

When people say "do the math and see what happens" it seems to me that they are saying that the virus will continue to kill everybody like it did the people with underlying conditions at the beginning until there are millions and millions of dead. That's not happening in Sweden. They are taking a middle ground that regardless of how the super lefty press (I am a lifelong lefty) wants to persuade people is blowing up in their face is working really well. They are encouraging people to work from home if they can, they have limited school to two days a week, are providing all the help those in high risk groups need to self isolate but as to the rest they are trying to keep life as normal as possible.

Belgium has been in total lockdown for a month, they have 10,000,000 people in their population and they have 4,000 deaths, Sweden is taking a middle route, have 10,000,000 population and have had 1000 deaths.

This stringent social distancing along with the sever economic toll is going to have a bigger body count. 38,000 people die with each percent increase in joblessness. 10,000,000 people just lost their jobs, another 10-30,000,000 retirees just saw 40% of their retirement saving disappear, that's going to cause 200,000 deaths from poverty and homelessness.

Just my opinion, really not trying to start a fight, really trying to get a dialog that gets people unstuck from the extremes and start looking for something that works for everybody.

Yes, there has got to be something in the middle. There is something in the middle. We were just too lazy and media-frightened to find that middle ground. Burning down the economy, as you put it, is no solution at all and as has been said before, the cure that is far worse than the disease itself. I know how to properly calculate percentages and don't have to multiply by 100. I use the % function on calculator, put in two number sets and hit enter. Works every time.

Tests are to diagnose. Good for sound bites, spread fear, but don't do much as an overall data point. Like you said, test aren't accurate one way or the other. I believe 70% accuracy is deemed acceptable. Who gets tested? Those presenting symptoms, those within a set baseline of symptoms? Those who want to get tested but aren't sick? Where are tests taking place? NY, NJ, La. , Detroit or in the middle of nowhere Idaho, Montana? The death rate from China Virus is nowhere near 4%. To date, 4% of confirmed cases may die, but the number of confirmed cases, that denominator is unknown. That's why I didn't use it as a factor. There could be 30,40, 50% of all carrying the virus and don't even know it.

Of course, 'don't catch it. ' If you're over 60 and / or obese, diabetic, pre-diabetic, cancer, you need to be careful. Still not death sentence. If you're under 60 and healthy, do what you want. Georgia has had 20 deaths from China virus in those under 60 and healthy. Horrible thing, but 20 out of approx. 9 million isn't a high risk. I'd bet much more die from suicide, murder, car wrecks, accidents, O. D. 's.

Asymptomatic individuals passing the virus to others is a concern if those it's passed to are 60+ and / or bad sick to start with. Even then not a death sentence. Healthy asymptomatic young people passing the virus to other healthy people isn't much of a concern. It's actually a good thing. Healthy person has virus, their body beats it, then they pass along a weakened version of virus. That person beats it, they pass along an even weakened version onto the next, then onto the next and the next and the next. That's how virus' disappear. The healthy among us, those not targeted, defeat them. That's why all humans weren't killed by previous pandemics

Some of the things that you say are logical. The bottom line is, we don't have a clue regarding this virus. It IS similar to the flu, but it's attack on the cells of the lungs are more vicious. The flu has many strands, so who's to say that the corornavirus doesn't have different strands. Viruses are spread when they are active. One person doesn't weaken it for the next person. When your kid gets the chicken pox, expect them to be afflicted for at least a week. But if they get the chicken pox vaccine, and if they DO get the chicken pox, the case may be less severe.
