To my knowledge it will or would only be an issue when you travel internationally. In Canada most DUI convictions are a Felony that's why they crack down on people entering. I don't believe your local police would have access to a national data base which is what immigrations uses that's shared between certain countries. Either way it sucks and I hope it works out for you.

As shitty as it sounds, I'm going to have to go with a court appointed attorney. Recently divorced, so the funds aren't what they used to be. But from what I've read it's almost impossible to get out of a dui in Canada after there new law past.

I'm not sure how much it matters, but I was even apologized to by some in the police department, because they knew I was a nice guy, and just made an honest mistake (life issues).

At this point I'm not concerned about reentry, just what happens in the states.

If you were checked by their Immigration people they have some discretion on whether to turn you back. Another site said that if you are a permanent resident but not a citizen of Canada, equivalent to a green card holder, and get a DUI in Canada they can deport you. Below is a link to questions but it doesn't say for Canadian DUI's. Looks like you will need to do what is in the reply below if you want in again.

Right. I read that as well. I'm allowed back (can't drive myself) to get my vehicle out of impound, and to show up to my court date. I was given my license back by immigration. They told me as of right now they had no problem with me entering the country, but that could change after my hearing.

My main concern is this charge following me to the states. Basically, does what happens in Canada stay in Canada?

Quite a few years back, I saw a somewhat mainstream movie on cable. It was a Yakuza / Japanese crime plot with a lot of killing and revenge type action. It also had one of the most awesome plot points I've ever seen. For starters I don't think anyone here is saying that it's more tragic than anything you mentioned. So I don't why you assumed that we did. I also don't get why you think nobody here isn't sympathetic to the plight of others. Regardless of whether they're even in this hobby or not. Much less a provider even. But since you want to make such a big deal out of others having sympathy for someone who's life is very much not the best it could be fine let's answer your question. She's the victim of gang gun violence. Something totally avoidable. Thanks to a senseless act of violence for what was prolly 'strEeT cReD' or 'rEsPEcT' she also has had her life arguably ruined by a single second of her life. $650 a month in social security disability is an appealingly pathetic amount of money to live on, and is basically dooming her to a life of poverty. Being paraplegic is definitely something that badly restricts and hinders your life. The truth is that many jobs and employers will basically eliminate her as a candidate when they have others lined up without a disability. Oh and there's also the jobs she's never able to do now. All those employment options that would've stayed open for her would've been a nice way to ensure a life free from abject poverty. I couldn't imagine life in a wheelchair honestly. Physical activity restrictions alone would bring me down to a dark place. Are you saying that you're someone who's tough and rough enough to handle such a disability and such a crime against you? By all means, please help out the poor and needy if you're so tough. I'm sure you can make the world a much better place with your grit and toughness. How much more do you want me to go on? We all know that providers are most likely not born into families of privilege. Or that they have privilege currently. Who else would honestly do this kinda work if they had better choices? Not many. Why do you have something against others having sympathy for a provider?
