Posts: 958I'm curious to know what they were sentenced to, but Google can't find any info. It's been over a year since they were found guilty.

This press release sounds nothing like what was happening at AX. The women at AX did not appear to be forced to work.
By the way, how do we know who testified against AX?

Posts: 5Yeah, I think any AX junkie is well aware of that situation. Just wondering where she went afterwards. I seriously doubt they all went straight afterwards.

Nevada is a hodgepodge. Prostitution is not legal in all of Nevada, and is illegal in the following counties: Clark (which contains Las Vegas), Douglas, Eureka County, Lincoln, Pershing County and Washoe (which contains Reno). Prostitution is also illegal in Nevada's capital, Carson City, so the small towns have brothels, not the cities. Towns like Elko, Winnemucca, Ely, and Pahrump have brothels, but they are not everywhere.

Well. After she testified for the prosecution against the defendants I would assume she's now an american citizen in the witsec program working a government job, attending a toll booth somewhere in California. Maybe.

You have another think coming if you believe local zoning laws will allow legalized prostitution to operate everywhere. Look at the rules for marijuana in IL. Lots of individual jurisdictions have prohibited sale within their boundaries.

Decriminalization opens the door to sex trafficking. Legalization w regulation allows workers on the up and up to do their thing while still giving the law teeth against sex trafficking. Also you're conflating the evangelical Republicans w Republicans as a whole. The libertarian right is all in a legalization.

Posts: 203They shouldn't talk about legalization.
What it should be is decriminalized. It's not illegal to have consensual sex. Just don't make it a crime to have consensual sex for money. As for Republicans, they are more interested in ginning up their base and their base thinks prostitution is immoral. So they legislate morality. And we all know how well that works.

Nevada only has legal prostitution in certain areas. I'm talking legalizing in each state.

The angle to push towards liberals is that by keeping it illegal, it disproportionately disenfranchises the lives of LGBTQ members, particularly for minorities. And for conservatives, why should BIG government have a say in what goes on between consenting adults? Government isn't part of the solution. It's part of the problem!

Anything is possible in IL when it comes to overtaxing the people, especially if our current Governor thinks he can make a couple bucks by legalizing prostitution and then taxing the fuck out of it.

All it might take is for one state to legalize Prostitution to get the ball rolling. Just like how Marijuana started.
