Yep. HpD needed a "win", after the chief and his crime spree of a wife. Plus when your local PD says they can't pursue misdemeanor crimes like petty theft, car break ins, and non violent crimes in general it leaves a bad impression. So what's easier than a stationary target that advertises their personal information, location, and what crimes they plan on allegedly committing? Can't get any easier and they don't really have to worry about resistance.

Redevelopment might be a factor as well, since all of the new high rises around the massagey places are springing up and they don't exactly help sell apartments.

Agree completely. Crime (especially violent crime) seems to be surging recently as well. Have to get some wins out in the public eye when there are so many shootings recently.

HPD is such a joke, the rampant corruption in the local government is just ridiculous.

I think it is everything you listed -- especially LE's failure to go after the real criminals (robbers, murderers,. Purse snatchers, etc.) and instead go after the easy people who are causing the least harm, the old senior jaywalkers, the massage parlors, etc.

I have been following this thread (on and off) for years with hopes of partaking someday. Now that I am on the verge of a vacation, it appears that a lot of shops are closing (think Kison, ect). And these closures have taken place in a relatively short period of time. Post have hinted at the contributing factors--but nothing conclusive has been stated.

So, are these closures due to rising rents, redevelopment, LE pressures--or a little bit of everything added up?

Since last visit wasn't too bad. Either I got "Lucky" and got the same girl, or it's just a sham and she's basically the only one there.
