I usually give them 20 min, but I've had good experiences waiting 30 min or more as well. Even good providers are often not capable of managing their time. That's just how it works in this game.

The only way we car stop the providers from pulling the waiting game is avoid them. As long as we let them get by with it they will do it over an over. Cut off the money they will improve their service or get out of the business. Just my 2 cents.
