Shouldn't be an issue. Most of the LA bookers will take "out of town" references, but nobody will see you without credentials. Make sure your NYC references are willing to green light you, and give the LA bookers plenty of time to verify you. In my experience, the NYC agencies know the established LA network, so you will probably be fine.

Not going to recommend which LA agency to try, but you might want to "ping" several, since a few are not taking new clients. MLK weekend is a long way away. Until then, broaden your NYC network (and references), which will give you a better chance of having "network compatibility" from coast to coast. Once your foot is in the door in LA (treat the girls nice, show up on time, don't be an a-hole, etc.), you can gradually work your way into other agencies. Always request that the booker remember your number, since you "plan to return in a few weeks".
