Detectives aren't going to invest a lot of time, effort, or money to track down information on burner phones for men who are mongers. But I suspect you did not read the first half of the conversation which was specifically about pissing off a cop to the point they would have a personal vendetta against you and would take extreme measures to find you. A burner / hobby phone only makes it more difficult for LE not impossible. There is an extensive digital footprint you leave behind and while I agree it is extremely unlikely, LE might be willing to go through the legal hoops of subpoenaing such information or worse yet obtaining the information illegally from friends in high places and then dealing with you outside of the legal system. I would not want to put myself in either situation just to get back at someone over a few measly bucks.

Yes, I've done that before and even debated taking it to the next level where the bogus outcall is to the home address of a known vice detective. The girl would probably end up getting arrested depending on how much information she discloses pertaining to the reason for her visit.
