When a merchant gets a large number of charge backs is issued by MC / visa their processing costs per charge gets increased. Get enough in a short period of time, MC / visa will refuse your business. Seeking trys to avoid this with their terms of service. But FCBA (Fair Credit Bill Act) guarantees a consumer the right to challenge a charge and request a refund if unsatisfied with the service or goods when using a credit card within 60 days of getting their statement.

Yes, the chargeback requests do hurt them, even if they don't get approved and they have to pay out. I fully intend to try a chargeback now every time I get a month on the site and I encourage others to do the same. If you want to use the same account going forward, it obviously wouldn't work, but if you want to just save $100 and make a new one, then could be fine. I will just have to use some more generic pics, but I should have been doing that to begin with.

No one wants to waste time connecting with someone in a foreign country that has no way to actually meet. I agree that it's heavy handed and if they are going to cancel a membership, they should give a partial prorated refund for whatever time is remaining. They should also have a way to deal with people that are traveling.

Not a surprise, but it's funny how they threaten me with sending my account to collections if I do a chargeback. I didn't use my real name, and I used a prepaid mastercard. And I always log in from a VPN. So they might find that to be somewhat challenging.

Their Terms of Service say they can cancel your account and take your money for any reason. Ok that's great and we I am definitely going to initiate a chargeback. It may or may not work, but clearly that's the right course of action here.
