I hope this summer is treating you all well!

I am about to take a dive and try the SW scene. Have had some nice dreams with more "professional" providers but I am finding that the juice ain't worth the squeeze in a lot of instances. My feeling is if I'm going to be disappointed, why not donate a bit less and turn it into a crap shot,- or a box of chocolates, "you never know what you are going to get". Kinda like fishing.

None the less,- I've identified areas to vacation to based off my own research BUT,- I'm not looking to get my ass shot or pulled up. Are there better times to visit these areas than others? Are there areas where the fish are better? Anything I should be looking out for besides freaking Johnny law and flying bullets?
