Unless it is a call from someone I know, I always let it go to voicemail. Both in the hobby and out of it. And never have a personalized greeting. I stuck with the default computer voice "The caller you are trying to reach is unavailable at this time. Please leave a message after the tone. " I'd even suggest going as far as if the default message gives out the number of the burner, get one of those text to speech programs and record a greeting from that which omits the number. Just one more layer of security that does not confirm they dialed your number.

I never much cared for the practices of the individual in question and felt he was lax with regards to securing his business, shady, and nothing good could come of it.

I may have been told by a former colleague with no axe to grind that he recorded as a get out of jail free card. Its been 8 years since I may or may not have been in that area. I haven't heard anything but was curious if those who were contacted were recent. Regardless it's an effed up situation.

That is scary. I'd definitively like to know more details as well. Assuming these are hobby phones, did they have any personal information about you? Were you guys frequent flyers? Maybe they are just throwing darts and seeing what will hit. They may have cased the area for a while too so that is how they are getting contact information (if they are calling your personal number).

I've heard of a rumor of this guy recording and watching but it could have just been an angry customer or ex-employee (that is a lot of data to store). Getting an attorney is the best way to deal with this but I agree, they will use information against you. Don't take their word for anything. Stay safe everyone!

So I made another attempt to see Renee on Thursday, she was not available.
