It could be a tracfone issue since newer phones split time with data, text, and voice. If you run out of minutes with any of those three functions, that function stops until you reload it with more minutes. It's happened on my burner as I was not keeping tabs on my text minutes.

Don't know how legit he is, but the next line after "the phone is broke" she gives another number you can text.
