I'm not clear on what you're referring to. Why is mil spec encryption scary? You shouldn't be connecting to your email via unsecured methods (I. E. Not using ssl) for any reason.

I see no clear reason to use a VPN. Sure, *this* site doesn't have a ssl cert, but I don't care if anyone snoops this traffic (and I use a unique Dashlane pw here). Almost everywhere else I go it's via ssl which encrypts all traffic from your machine to the server. Only a total fool would connect to anything through some kind of public hotspot without ssl. That's just stupid. All those VPN ads we're seeing on TV now are just marketing FUD. .

Oh I still use a VPN. I work for a local defence company and I get the one we use for work. ARUBA. Just thought it was wierd that before yiu can use your VPN they send your password through an unsecured network. All is good in the kingdom my friend. Not knocking all those services out there.
