Never a good idea to confront these low lives directly. This forum is a good way to separate the good providers from the bad ones. Yes, you can put an ad in STG but I bet they will change their phone, name and identity in a heartbeat and come back as new! A good way to get around this problem is to boycott these bad providers until they either clean up their act or get out of town.

I've historically always asked priced, and jumped when the price was right. Negotiated only if they offered.

I've switched to suggesting a price, which gets a yes or no. Even with a yes, it seems you usually have to remind them.

A quick check about Instagram on Wikipedia showed me that Instagram is owned by Facebook. And I know that Messenger is also Facebook. For them to be mining other phone numbers along with contact names by going through unsuspecting users phones when they use these apps is beyond reprehensible. I have only used messenger at a minimum and mostly on my desktop computer.

The mashable article was enlightening! I now at least know that the 'People you may know' BS on Facebook is based on something. I am so glad that I am not part of the generation that grew up with social media.

So, Facebook seems to be a better tool than I thought. I will add it to my toolbox. But, I will still say that it can't know everything. To prove that point to myself, I did enter a few numbers of some providers that I know that have used the same numbers for quit some time, but nothing came up. I also entered the phone numbers of providers that I found out their real names through other means. Facebook could not find them through their phone numbers. I know they are on Facebook and do not have their phone numbers in their contact info, but I don't know if they use messenger or Instagram. Knowing them as I do, I don't think they use those apps. So, even if Facebook is better than I thought, if it still fails to get results, to my original point, there are other options to consider.

It's only the ones who have no idea what they are doing who really get caught up on FB LOL. I taught one how to keep everyone off her personal page because her family doesn't know what she does and guys were popping up asking about time. Family thinks she's just a stripper.
