Ha. Most Marines I know would have said "I'm a former Marine. Retired".

And no. Not embarrassed about my service. It's just a part of my life that's behind me. The things I learned served me well in the civilian world though.

"They broke the bomb parts in several distinct, secret shipments code-named BRONX (irreplaceable parts, like fissile material) and BOWERY (parts that could be replaced within several weeks, like the other components of the bomb).

Most of the heavy components the non-nuclear parts for the gun bomb (with many spares), and the ~80 lb high-enriched uranium "projectile" for the Little Boy bomb were from Los Alamos to Albuquerque on July 14st, in "a closed black truck and seven cartloads of security guards" (Rhodes, Making of the Atomic Bomb), and from there were flown to Hamilton field in San Francisco in two DC-3s. There another security convoy moved them to the USS Indianapolis at Hunter's Point, San Francisco, and which left for Tinian on July 16th (just hours after the Trinity test was completed). The containers were welded to the deck of the Indianapolis and kept under 24-hour armed guard."

What I meant by that is I think the Vietnam war, in particular, has some unusual circumstances. The servicemen took the brunt of what our weak-minded politicians wrought to the tune of 58 K dead. And the way they were treated, after all, was fucking horrendous.

When you're drafted and sent off to fight a war that becomes unpopular, it's shitty to blame people that were trying to keep themselves alive during the prosecution of the war.

So I'm "appreciative" of their sacrifices because it was difficult. I feel this way for all of our military. I'm not supportive of people who've mostly never served a day getting their "free patriotism badge" by using them as battering rams or profit centers for everything from football to t-shirts to bumper stickers.

And I'm just fucking with that yrag dude because he seems to think this "squid vs. marine" thing has legs. LOL.

I served but I sucked at it and both the Army and I were really glad to part company and I get the never ending gyreen / squid thing but I had an Uncle who served for 26 years, retired as an E-9 did three tours in Vietnam, was in Korea at the end, was in Berlin during the airlift, won a bronze star for valor and he used to always say he was retired military and I'm most fucking sure he was never "less than particularly proud" of his service. Not everybody needs to compensate for having a micro penis by letting everybody know they were a fucking gyreen.

Is there such an aircraft as a B53?

The B-53 was a big ass thermonuclear bomb carried by B-58 bombers that could leave a 3 mile wide crater, flatten all buildings within a 9 mile radius and burn up all living life within a 20 mile radius. It was designed to collapse the war bunkers south of Moscow. Fortunately, we never had to learn if it actually worked.

I am going to guess Susie meant the B-52. Lots of those still in the sky raining terror on our select enemies.
