I have noticed that it's cyclic. If you do this long enough you get a feel for how a newbie, a semi-pro or a pro behaves if they are serious. At the minimum do a picture search and don't agree to anything online like paying for pictures, videos etc.

There is also the matter, posted elsewhere, I think Richmond on the arrangement thread, that there are scammers on CL who message w / you for a bit and get your #, then begin to call threatening arrest for contacting someone not of legal age.
