OK let's be honest here. The girls are not known for their business skills. And us customers are not known for our ability to wait on pussy. This is not nor has it ever been a regular business. You bring up some good points. I don't think he's lying he just doesn't have the full story and appears to not know how junkies work. Even the "good ones," good people in every other aspect of their lives, will lie through their teeth about their use and to protect their dealer(s). The places with lockdown units don't have ERs.

Many places can transfer a medically stable patient to a lockdown, but care of HIPAA, if a conscious patient leaves AMA, the hospital cannot call the police.

If there is someplace with an ER that also has lockdown in Summit County, please share -- odds are good that it'll be needed.

ACH has a specific lockdown section in their ER for psychiatric. If these patients are "pink slipped," by a doctor, they cannot leave, they're deemed psychologically incapable of making a rational decision and leaving AMA is a no go. I believe it has six separate rooms. The only way in and out of this unit is with a keycard and ACH police are stationed about 20 feet away. Once they go through everything here, which can sometimes take a day or two, and doctors decide they need further help, they are transported, still pink slipped, to another facility. Typically St. Thomas (if it's open) or Portage Path Emergency Services. Other times it can be do facilities in Cleveland, Portage, Massillon, or Canton. Sometimes even Youngstown and Columbus if absolutely necessary.

AGMC also has 2 lockdown units. 6th floor. One side is psychiatric and the other is "stress management," whatever that is.

Western reserve doesn't have shit. They were stupid to take her there.

I was pretty much going to stay out of this, but that isn't remotely true. I know that one hospital, does in fact have a lock down unit in their ER, and a few others have a version of lock downs. As well as lock down rooms for psychiatric patients suffering severe medical issues. They will keep a patient in that locked down room if needed until medically stable, and then ship them over to the specialized lockdown unit of that ER for psych evaluation and decide what facility they will send them to. Psychiatric UNITS (wards) will not accept a patient who are having any type medical issues. That portion of this ER acts just like the psych ward lock downs. During this time, as long as a doctor deems it medically necessary, they cannot leave AMA. So she was either not considered psychiatric and she was able to leave AMA, or this story is missing something.
