I'm also a Chrome user and I've seen the same slowdown, but only later at night when I assume everybody and their uncles are logged on. You know it's 12:45 am because that's one of the times the site bounces. I was also having a lot of problems with PMs. I could send them but only half of the recipients were receiving them, so we resorted to email. But, this site is free so we can't really complain too much.

For this site, I only use Chrome. I find it works much better than IE and Firefox. I use those browsers for everything else.

Google hangouts app does the same thing as Talkatone for SMS. I have a few Google voice #s (free) but just use those as back ups to the burner app ($4. 95/ month) as the burners are easy to throw away #s in case you get a psycho that wants to fuck with you and keep calling from different #s. I have been luck but a friend of mine was not with crazy Shawna / Serenity on SA. She kept calling him from different #s to his Google voice and he had to cancel the google #. He then went to the burner app exclusively and made a pretty good case as to why. He is a bit of an asshole to his "conquests" so I can understand why he has had issue. Knock on wood, I have not had any over the years.

I don't have any issues with it. It is working well for me but I let it load my contacts. Maybe that is why you are having some issues.
