Speaking if VIP rooms / booths, I like to get comfortable when I get a dance. That is one thing that turns me off at H8 N and Bogie. I haven't been to too many SCs but the most comfortable VIP rooms I have been in are at Cracker Jaxx in Jackson. They even have a huge room for the same VIP tax as other VIP rooms but since it is right next to DJ booth, it is practical only during the day time / afternoon when they is no DJ (they only have a DJ after 7, I think. It is more like a party room with 2 or 3 couches. Some VIP rooms at Deja Vu are pretty comfortable, others are crampy. I like the mirrors in BT's Dearborn.

I haven't been to other Detroit clubs. Which ones have real good VIP rooms?

I've used the bigger room a few times, it's a nice $20 if you're not counting pennies. More privacy (there's not a curtain 3 feet away from you and 3 other guys in booths right next to you), extra room to play around in, which can come in handy. It feels more like a private room.

I thought I'd pass along some tips on the hobby based on different things I've read (some from this very site) or gleaned from other sources. I don't claim to be the expert on all of this, and I'm sure there are others here that I could learn a thing or two from (and already have, actually). I just thought I'd share things that have helped me.

Most of my mongering has been at SCs, and I figure some quick tips on negotiating would be worthwhile.

1. Do your research. Find out the typical prices for the services you're looking for at the clubs you're interested in. This should be done before you even enter a club.

2. Know the maximum amount you're willing to spend for a particular service. You should have a figure in mind before you even talk to a dancer.

3. Your opening offer should be below the maximum amount you're willing to spend. Ideally, she'll agree to your offer, but if not, you've got some room to raise your bid to satisfy her without exceeding your maximum amount. For example, let's say you're willing to spend 150 for a particular service. She opens with 200. You counter with 100. If she takes it, great. If she counters with 150, then both parties will still be happy.

4. Be willing to walk away from the deal. There are always other dancers and other clubs. If you can't agree on a price you're willing to pay, then (respectfully) tell the dancer "thanks, but no thanks".

5. Learn from each negotiation. On the drive home, replay each negotiation in your head. What can be learned from it? Could you have saved some money with a lower opening offer? Should you have stuck to your guns on a particular price? Could you have gotten more out of the deal in some way?

I've had similar experiences at the Landing Strip over the past 6 months or so. Lots of good features- decent talent and roomy private dance facilities to name a few. But the negatives are mounting up: mandatory VIP, smoking allowed. Most troubling, there seems to be a concerted effort to jack up the prices of any extra curricular activities during a private dance. This might work for neophytes who do not know to negotiate prices and, failing to arrive at a mutually agreeable arrangement, to relocate to another more reasonably priced club (Criket has been a good option over recent months). Hopefully the readers of this forum will be sufficiently informed to negotiate fair prices for any extra services at the LS, or leave for a different club.

I have always come back from The Landing Strip disappointed at best. So after avoiding LS for more than a year, I am giving it one more shot this afternoon. I will post my report later, but I was wondering if there are any daytime dancers that I should AVOID. The ones that try to scam you. Thanks.

LS is going downhill. I have been there few times in last few weeks on Friday afternoon and very disappointed. Girls are ok and asking more than. 3 for everything which I laughed at.
