And why I said if a person with HIV has unprotected sex without telling their partner about having HIV it is in some states, you will have to look up your state, it is a serious felony punishable by prison. It depends on the state but it is why states are making it a crime / serious to have unprotected sex if the partner has HIV. Even worse if the partners have multiple partners and have HIV.

When tested for any STI's there are several that are tracked both by state and CDC. HIV, Syphilis, and gonorrhea (especially since the last has become resistant). It is my understanding that the general public cannot go and get the information about any individual. Any STI including HIV only becomes public record if involved in a crime.

ALSO important to note is that any and all testing (in state, out of state, or health clinic) is entered into the universal medical reporting record, locally known as EPIC and can be viewed by your primary physician and other health care professionals with appropriate credentials.

Back in 2016, I got checked out up in Dayton at the Montgomery County Health Clinic. In my case, I did provide my health insurance info and I believe they asked for an ID so it was not anonymous. The clinic did a blood test for syphilis and a swab test for gonorrhea and chlamydia. They did a visual test for genital herpes, and warts. In the visual test, I think they also looked for signs of trichomoniasis and would do a swab test if you show symptoms. They did an HIV blood test but I did have to sign a separate form for that and the results are handled differently. I believe it was a social worker rather than the nurse that provided me the result. The clinic did not test for hepatitis C at that time. I had my family doctor order that blood test during a routine checkup.

Posts: 22Cori's Rant of the Day
My mini-rant / statement of the day.
From this point on-- I will work in the areas that are convenient to me / comfortable for me.
In the past 2 weeks, twice now I have set up shop in different parts of town at the request of one or more mongers. In both cases, once there, the mongers in question were nowhere to be seen. And the areas apparently weren't easy enough access for anyone else. So I've sat. And sat. Knowing that if I were in one of my normal parts of town. I'd be busy.
So no-- no more. It'll be east side or north side from this point onward unless you're a reliable regular who begs and begs.

Posts: 1395One addition to my statement
Although HIPPA may give you protection against disclosure check with your state laws. Any person in my state who knowingly has sex unprotected and has HIV is guilty of a SERIOUS FELONY and can be sentenced to prison. Although privacy is important, to knowingly have unprotected sex and have HIV is or can be a felony so please check state laws where you are. Guys do it and so do ladies wanting to make money. Hope this helps I learned something new myself Have family in the medical field and they set me straight on HIPPA but said to check state laws regarding AID and unprotected sex. Thanks Monty.

Posts: 1395You are correct on a second test for HIV
However if you test positive twice BY LAW that is turned over to the CDC or your state health There is NO privacy for HIV as it is not rated as curable at this time. That may vary by who tests you That is why I said ASK BEFORE YOU TEST so there are no surprises. There is by law no HIV confidentiality under HIPPA. What your local testers may do is there choice so ASK.

Posts: 443All results are confidential, we've all heard of HIPAA by now. If you test positive for HIV, a 2nd test is recommended for confirmation. I'm not sure what you are implying will happen re: privacy after testing positive for HIV?

Posts: 1395Most Clinics locally will test you at a greatly reduced rate
When you go into a test site, the question to ask is will my results be kept private and known by only me? The one exception is if you come down with HIV. Then it is a big NO. Most other diseases are kept between you and the clinic with medical recommendations for you. Most major cities and many small ones also have this testing and will give you confirmation of your results and those results in most cases are sealed from the CDC and local Health Associations. Check with the local rules in your area I am sure they vary. Just an attempt to help out. ALWAYS VERIFY BEFORE GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS.

Posts: 321I get tested at least twice a year, but this is a scary article. So far, I've been clean. I normally go for a CBJ, but I love DATY. I know, that makes no sense. May have to rethink that activity now. I always figured if I picked something up going down on a girl I could get a cure. This news sucks. By the way, you can get tested anonymously with STD alert.

Posts: 351This article begs the question to all the Senior members: Do you routinely get tested? And if you do where have you found to be the best clinics.
