I'm not sure how you said it, but mentioning a tip and extra might have been what scared her off. I don't know how others do it, but I generally only pay for the half hour when I go to a new place. I suppose talking to them about it up front would work, I just never know how to start that conversation. Besides, half the time they think I'm LEO.
