Which is better a totality separate phone or the app.

I'd imagine downloading the app leaves a trail? Al tho app is better, hard to enplane 2 phones.

I use the Burner App. It's pretty great. There's a free trial, but after the initial use, it's a premium service. The Google Play purchase history could show that you've used the service, but it does have legitimate uses. I use Burner whenever I make a Craigslist purchase, for example, and don't want to give out my number to a stranger on the internet.

The thing about the Burner app: the moment someone starts blowing up your number, you can block them or just burn the number altogether. At the push of a button, Burner deletes the phone number and your entire message / call history that you haven't already deleted.

Here's the great thing. When you're not using the Burner app, just uninstall it from your phone. When you're ready to use it again, install it, and any number you wished to keep will still be there ready for you to use. If you missed any messages while the app was uninstalled, they'll be there waiting for you too.

Long story short: the Burner App is amazing, and the wise move is to uninstall it after you wake up. Reinstall again next time you're looking to get some rest.
