I posted questions earlier about how to handle cash needs as a MBL but didn't get replies. These are the solutions I have come up with. The best is a casino or racetrack. They love to pay you off in cash, preferably hundreds. I recommend these. There is something special about a $100 bill that is not comparable to 5 $20's. Of course, you have to be a good enough gambler to be able to generate the winnings to support the SB habit. You also have to be cautious about not getting winnings that trigger an IRS filing, which the SO is going to wonder about when she sees it on the tax return.

Otherwise, this is how I am moving cash that hopefully should not be noticed. I have brokerage accounts that will send wires. It is crucial you use the wire, not the standard thing many are using these days, ACH transfer. This is stuff like online bill pay or electronic check. For all of the, the payee or payor is listed on the statement. For my broker, all that shows up on the statement is 'Outgoing wire'. I do this now and then for purchases of private securities. It should not raise an alarm should the SO ever look at the brokerage statement, which almost never happens (though long ago I did get busted this way).

Where does the wire go? I opened an account with an online bank. You can find a prominent one yourself. They have an ATM network that charges no fees. The wire goes there and then I can go make a withdrawal of my sugar. I haven't figured out yet the daily limit on cash withdrawals. The interest my bank pays on a checking account balance right now is only 0. 1%. I intend to have my $ in residence in the account for only a short time. Therefore, there should be negligible interest accumulating over the year and I won't be getting a 1099-I from that bank account. As an online bank there won't be any mailing to my house. There is only the one-time mailing of a signature card and the ATM card. I get the mail so I can intercept these.

You might want to do a trial run of cloud storage to see if that's convenient and secure for you. One recommendation is not to go with Google Drive as (assuming that you have a legit gmail account) Google might try to default you to your regular account. For storing mongering related files you might want to pick up a pure cloud service such as Box or Dropbox.

And if you want to buy a used smartphone burner without any paper trail you should look to buy from Craigslist by paying cash.

First, I appreciate the guidance. I know nothing about the cloud though. Best way to learn? And isn't there a paper trail for an EBay purchase? Can I get a smartphone burner that's totally anonymous?

Yes I learn something new everyday and I like this approach with a nice complementary note to an attractive young lady. It gets me to think that the best is to be ready for the right circumstances, in other words I need to have a note already prepared, heck on my business travels just this past week I could have and should have used this as I meet 2 or 3 friendly young lady's in the airport and on flight.

Be careful with the phone, I got caught up with one because the alarm went off on it somehow and then it was found by the SO. I no longer keep the phone in the house. My mistake, but things happen.

You can get a cheap burner phone from the convenience store, and just add time as needed. That is what I'm doing now. The cloud seems cool, but I don't like storing stuff online, and a lot of the google stuff asks for contact information etc. I don't know that much about the cloud, but it hasnt interested me so far.

I'm still keeping things on a locked drive, like you.

You can encrypt a flash drive, yes? I am even keeping that drive in my office, not at home. The only thing on the home Flash is the Tor browser.
