There are a group of folks who police and report fake reviews. I don't know whether these guys have a real life offline and outside of hobby. So, earning membership with fake reports would actually need a lot of work to avoid being detected. Heck, even I can smell and identify some of the fishy, fake, self-promoting reviews now.

Additional ads usually are ads outside of your search geography. Also, unless you pay for additional features to highlight your ad, your free ad will be buried deep because there are so many paid ads being posted in any given hour.

Anyone ever notice Backpage has "hidden" ads? Like if you search for something, it'll list regular results then it'll list "Additional Ads" - seems like those Additional Ads don't show up in the main listing.

First I want to thank all you fellas out there for the info and knowledge you imparted on me through the many tales told here. Since I am still new to this I tend to go with those that seem the surest bet.
